2. Solvent Recycling

A crucial part of our waste-reduction strategy is solvent recycling. In traditional manufacturing processes, solvents are used to dissolve, extract, and purify ingredients. Instead of discarding these solvents, we have implemented a closed-loop system that allows us to collect, clean, and reuse them in our processes. This approach conserves valuable resources, limits pollution, and minimizes waste sent to landfills.

3. Using recyclable packaging

As part of our broader sustainability efforts, Winkey is committed to using recyclable and reusable packaging materials. Our packaging choices are carefully designed to minimize waste and ensure that materials can be reused or recycled.

For example, the dragon-shaped bottles are made from fluorinated HDPE, 100% reusable and recyclable. And our paper boxes are plastic-free, biodegradable, and made from renewable materials like wood, waste paper, and wheat straw, supporting circular resource use. They are also ROHS tested for safety and compliance.

By prioritizing the use of recyclable packaging, we aim to reduce our carbon footprint and contribute to the global movement toward a circular economy.

All of our ingredients are sourced from non-animal origins, with a strong emphasis on cruelty-free practices. We ensure that our products are not only effective and safe for consumers but also ethically sourced. In addition, we prioritize plant-based ingredients and ensure that none of our products are tested on animals. Whenever possible, we emphasize renewable, bio-based materials to minimize environmental impact. And more, we support sustainable palm oil and its derivatives production in line with RSPO standards.

2. From Chinese Biodiversity to Sustainable Beauty

China is home to one of the world's richest and most diverse ecosystems, offering a wealth of plant resources with exceptional potential for sustainable beauty solutions. We are dedicated to exploring and harnessing China's unique botanical biodiversity to develop innovative ingredients that combine local heritage with cutting-edge technology.

We carefully select underutilized, non-endangered plant species that are cultivated sustainably without depleting wild resources. Grown in specific regions of China, these plants are chosen for their efficacy, safety, and sustainability, ensuring minimal environmental impact and the preservation of their natural ecosystems. This commitment has led to the creation of our pioneering ingredient series, ''Originating from China'', which currently includes Camellia Squalane, Tri-Calmin, Prinsepia Oil, Prinsepia Ferm and Bakuchiol.

1. Green Chemistry & Biomanufacturing

Winkey applys the principles of green chemistry, designing processes that reduce or eliminate the use and generation of hazardous substances. This approach prioritizes sustainability, safety, and resource efficiency, aiming to minimize environmental impact while improving the effectiveness of production processes.

A key aspect of our green chemistry commitment is the integration of synthetic biology. We use biosynthesis, a cutting-edge and eco-friendly method, to produce high-purity ingredients such as WKPep® Carnosine, WActive® NMN, WActive® Ectoin, WActive® EGT and WActive® Der-Xylose-30. This method is more economical, efficient, and safer than traditional chemical methods, minimizing harmful substances, reducing waste, and enhancing safety by using gentler solvents and auxiliaries. 

For instance, WKPep®Carnosine, COSMOS-approved, is produced through biological fermentation, achieving a purity of up to 99.9%. Similarly, WActive® NMN, produced via enzymatic synthesis, boasts a purity of over 99%.

Our commitment to green chemistry also extends to refining product formulations to meet sustainable development goals. For example, we have eliminated solubilizers potentially contaminated with carcinogens like ethylene oxide (E.O.), ensuring safer and cleaner products for consumers.
